I LOVE to play outside!
And it's good for my cognitive and intellectual development--
building big BRAINS and an active imagination!
It's also important for my motor skills,
as well as my emotional well-being and social development.
But a lot of other children are losing touch with nature.
They might have a harder time understanding how their lives
depend on this great big natural world.
A happy and healthy future for all kids depends on them
having a strong relationship with Mother Nature.
It's as important as any mother-child relationship.
The Urbana Park District is delighted to announce the launch of our community fundraiser for the Friendship Grove Nature Playscape. (Coming soon to the Anita Purves Nature Center.)
The playscape will be built as a hands-on, kid-directed outdoor play space where play in nature is led by a child’s imagination and ingenuity. Construction of the first phase of the nature playscape will begin in the fall of 2016 with installation of an accessible path, native landscaping, and four main features: a series of large climbing logs, a digging area, a tunnel with a small hill, and a fort for imaginative play.
Our community fundraising goal is $10,000! You can help by donating directly and helping spread the word to family and friends by e-mail and social media.
